My favorite spot, away from the city's cacophony. A serene place by the placid lake. I noticed there was a book on the bench. The breeze was flipping the pages. The fluttering of the pages sounded like the fluttering of bird's wings. Taking the book in my hands, I sat on the bench. The bench acknowledged my presence and creaked. There was a signature on the first page of the book.

My favorite spot, away from the city’s cacophony. A serene place by the placid lake. I noticed there was a book on the bench. The breeze was flipping the pages. The fluttering of the pages sounded like the fluttering of bird’s wings.
Taking the book in my hands, I sat on the bench. The bench acknowledged my presence and creaked. There was a signature on the first page of the book. I could not make out the name. I started reading the book.
It was kind of scary but I just could not put it away. I didn’t realize but I read till my eyes started to hurt due to the lack of light. As soon as I stopped reading, I noticed someone was sitting next to me. He startled me.
“I’m sorry,” he spoke.
With my hand on my chest, trying to control my heartbeat, I asked, “Who are you? You scared the bejesus out of me.”
“I’m sorry. I’m Neil.” he replied, “You were reading my book. I didn’t want to disturb you.”
“It’s your book?”.
“Yes, Do you see the title ‘Neil’s shoes‘?”
I laughed, “Very funny”
“I really am the Neil from the story. Did you notice the description of the place?” he asked.
It couldn’t be true. I wondered. That’s when I remembered that last evening, I fell in the lake, and I didn’t remember coming out of it.
