A Scary Monster

“There is someone under my bed, mommy”, he whispered in his mother’s ears.
The kids and their imaginations! Seeing her roll her eyes, he repeated, “Really mom! There is someone under the bed.” Pulling his sheet to hide his face, he added: “Maybe, a scary monster”.
He peered through the banket. The innocent eyes had a hint of fear.
“Not another bazinga moment, Shru?”, looking into her son’s eyes, Sheena asked.
Shru shook his head and motioned to cross his heart. Sheena patted the little one, turned on the mobile’s flashlight, and peered under the bed.
With a thud, she fell off the bed and was dragged under the bed.
“Mom, mom!”, Shru tossed the blanket in the air, turned on the light and peeked under the bed. His mom lay under the bed, motionless. He slowly stretched his arm and shook his mom. The kid was startled when his mother’s face turned. The voice that came out of his mother’s mouth was nothing like his mom’s. His mom’s voice rang in his ears when she yelled “Bazinga!”

Lovely twist in the end with a word. Thought something ominous would happen. Thankfully Bazinga saved me from jumping out of my chair, Priya. Wonderfully crafted.
