The Red Water

His voice echoed in her ears. Sam had said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” She blushed, but her cheeks’ hues were unappreciated underwater as the fishes passed her by, without as much as another glace. Amber held Sam’s hand, as they dove deeper into the ocean.
They met at a scuba diving workshop, a year ago. He was her instructor. As she fell in love with scuba diving, she fell deeper in love with the instructor.
After a year, they were going strong. What better way to celebrate than going on a romantic getaway on their first anniversary?
They booked a yacht and went for the scuba diving. They swam deeper and deeper. They were surrounded by beautiful colorful fishes. She was enthralled to see the underwater creatures and corals. And that’s when she noticed a shark circling them. Targetting them, the circle was getting smaller, the shark was closing in. She panicked. She took out the knife and cut Sam on his shoulder as sharks find the smell of the blood irresistible.
She reached the yacht deck alone, looking at the sea water turning red.

Gosh! is she a psychopath?
Not really. Purely survival instinct.
Amber loved herself more than Sam. How else would she inflict such painful death to him? I find her cruel.
Sam declared his love for her, she never did. Maybe she didn’t love him or not enough to get attacked by shark herself. Good story, Priya!
