“What do you mean, he vanished?” The officer demanded.
“I don’t know, Sir. He is not there.” The guard replied.
“Open the door.” The officer ordered. The door was opened. The man had disappeared; From the top floor of the highest building in the city, with guards manning the door. The man just vanished. His shoes were all that was left of him.
The man who claimed to be a time traveler had disappeared. And with him, the officer’s hope to meet his mother was gone too.
Thank you to Rochelle for hosting Friday Fictioneers and to Adam Ikes for providing the photo prompt this week.

Nothing like a little sci-fi to entice us ๐ Well done.
Thank you, Linda. It’s inspired by a true story. Do Google about a time-traveler from Taured.
I will! Thanks ๐
I am intrigued by these time travellers…!! And Priya do continue with this story, it’s a good one!
yes please keep writing this story! really well done within a few words.
Yes, shall do that. Thank you
This is inspired by the real incident, I told you about.
Google about the time traveler from Taured.
Loved the little twist at the end, why the officer really wanted to meet him. Nice one.
I am glad that you enjoyed it.
Thank you, Iain.
Dear Priya,
That was quite the twist at the end. Imaginative take on the prompt. Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you, Rochelle for the lovely prompt and kind comment.
Great ending to a mysterious tale.
Thank you, Liz.
Maybe the officer shouldn’t have locked him up but simply asked him nicely. ๐ Nice bit of sci-fi, I love the time traveler take on the prompt.
Yeah.. He wanted to talk privately. And didn’t want to lose him. little did he know that the time traveler would vanish.
Thank you, Brenda. Do look up about the real incidents related to the time travelers. The story is inspired by one such incident.
Very interesting! ๐
I wonder why the officer wanted to meet the mother. Fascinating.
May be, he wanted to see her one last time, thank her and love her..
Or he needed some answers.
Or may be both. Thank you, Jilly.
I love the may bes – they are several more stories ๐
True. ๐
I like that last line. Well done.
I am glad. Thank you.
“Them shoe are magic” must be some magic that has happened. Only shoes remain, man has vanished.
The man was a time traveler. Thank you, Abhijit
Intriguing, especially that ending.
I am glad you found it intriguing, Anurag. Thank you
Nice.
Thank you
Sounds like the ending to a much longer tale. You leave me very curious about the vanished man, but more intriguingly, about the officer, and his wish to “meet” his mother, leaving thoughts of adoption, abandonment, and other infantile distress swirling in my head.
Absolutely.. The Officer has his own demons, I presume. Guess I need to dig deeper about him. Thank you for the wonderful comment.
Love me some SciFi
Thank you
Oh I bet the officer is the son of the time traveler too
Well, that’s a possibility I didn’t consider. Thank you
Nice surprise at the end! Bummer for the officer. Hopefully the time traveller will come back.
Yeah.. Hope so. Thank you, Dale
Ooops.
