“What is your wish?” Tanya asked, looking into my eyes.
“I am not going to tell you,” I replied and put the red color paper in the wish jar.
Tanya’s expressions changed. She accepted her defeat, or so it seemed.
I left the room.
A couple of minutes later I realized that something was not right.
I return to the room to see Tanya holding the red color paper in.
“Tanya!” I gasped.
Nodding she turned towards me, with tears in her eyes. In her hand, the piece of paper read “I wish to get married to Tanya this year.”
This post is written for Friday Fictioneer. You can read other stories Here. I provided today’s prompt. It is a wish jar at my home. We write down our wishes and put it in this wish jar. And believe it or not, several wishes have come true. Thank you, Rochelle, for accepting this picture.

What happens next? I love this hanging in the air feeling
She nodded.. and had tears of joy. She said yes before he could actually propose.
Thank you, Sunita
Oh dear! I actually need a translator !
That’s lovely 😀
Thank you
Dear Priya,
What a lovely proposal. It sounds like he capitalized on Tonya’s curiosity. Thanks to you and your husband for the prompt this week.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you, Rochelle.
and the pleasure is all mine. 🙂
Ah, sweet story – but I think he deliberately left the room, knowing she wouldn’t be able to resist reading his wish! 🙂

Well.. may be. Than you, Susan, for the lovely comment.
I hadn’t thought about that!
I agree with Susan; he knew she would read it!
Two votes.. has to be right. Thank you, Clare
I hope they were tears of joy! Nice one Priya.
Click to read my FriFic tale!
Indeed, they were tears of joy, Keith.
I hope Tonya said “yes”!
She did. Thank you for reading and commenting.
Sweet story to go with your sweet photo.
To my ancient and cynical eyes the suffused pinks make it delightfully feminine.
Thank you, Ceayr. The walls are white. looking pink in the picture due to sunlight, I guess.
She might be thinking, “I secretly wished you to wish for me and our wish came true”.
Loved this one Priya <3
Thanks, Bhavana. That’s a nice line. 😍
Somehow I fear for these two, they need to be more open with each other. But it was a fine story and a good use of the prompt
I understand where you are coming from. And. Agree. Thank you , I am glad you liked the story.
I like that story, because it starts before the first word and doesn’t finish with the last word. So many questions! I hope Tanya hasn’t jinxed the wish by taking it out of the jar!
Thank you, Penny. Though Tanya should not have done that, but reading it made the wish come true.
“If wishes were horses we all would ride,” my mother used to say. May they both ride in the future.
Amen. Thank you, Alicia
Innovative way to propose.
Just a wish came true. Magical jar. Thank you, Abhijit
The sweetest love story ever!
Thank you, Akshata. I am glad you liked it.
Nice story, to accompany a really interesting prompt. Well done on both counts.
Thank you. I am glad you liked both. Means a lot.
That’s a lovely way to get a proposal.. Beats the ring in the champagne or cake.
Thank you, Anshu. I guess he inadvertently proposed. He just had a wish, which got fulfilled as soon as he wished for it.
Well written piece. Love the build up and ending…

Thank you.
At first I was annoyed that she went into the jar to find out his wish, but in the end I’m glad she did 🙂
I agree, she should not have done that. But as you said it worked for both of them.
I think he knew she’d look. A lovely story, Priya!
Thank you, Brenda. I am glad that you liked it.
Aaah Sweet, but she really shouldn’t have peeked, maybe she had put a wish “I wish he would ask me to marry him” in the jar too
I agree. She should not have.
I liked the idea that she had the same wish in the jar.
Thank you.
Thank you Priya for the pretty and inspiring picture this week! I hope Tanya’s nod was a yes to the idea of marrying, and the tears were tears of joy. Very happy ending, if so!
I am glad that you liked the prompt.
You are right. Nod was a yes and they were the tears of joy.
Thank you.
I love that he/she knows exactly what Tanya will do once they’ve left the room! Sweet.
May be he did.. or not. But I am sure he ain’t complaining. Thank you, Dale
Sweet story, maybe he knew that she should would peek 🙂
May be he did. Thank you, Subroto.
That’s lovely & sweet. Hoping it works out for the main character & Tanya.
Thank you, Lisa. I am sure it will.
May many more of your wishes come true. Thank you for the lovely photo!!
That’s such a sweet thing to say. Thank you so much, Violet.
BTW, you have got a beautiful name.
Was she happy? Sad? Angry? Shocked? This is a wonderful start to a much longer story, I think 🙂
I agree.. may be some day I will write.
I guess he was shocked initially. Later he was happy. But I am sure he will have a talk with her.
Thank you for the comment.
I took this as two women in love. Asking someone to marry you can be tough. Making your wish and getting your wish don’e always happen. Methinks, in this case, it will.
Though i had a man in mind as my protagonist. I guess, it would be apt for 2 women in love as well ( probably more apt). Thank you for the lovely comment.
That’s very sweet, a proposal they’ll never forget, and that’s unique. Thank you for that intriguing picture prompt.
I am glad that you found the prompt intriguing.
And I am sure they will never forget. Thank you for the comment.
Phew, at least it was something nice, Tanya could have had a nasty shock for her curiosity.
Lol. Yeah. You never know.
Thank you
Awww! This was sweet 🙂
Thank you, Piyali.
I do hope she was supposed to open it; otherwise, she spoiled the surprise. Maybe, he knew she would be curious. Lovely take on the prompt photo, Piyali. Hope there’s a happy ending with a ‘Yes’ answer.
Isadora 😎
I don’t think he would be complaining.she should not have opened though. I am glad you liked the prompt. Thank you so much.
I believe his wish will come true! Lovely story.
It did. I am glad you liked it. Thank you for your kind comment.
